2002
Garelochhead and Portincaple Trust Formed. Youth sub-committee set up to address the problem of a lack of youth facilities identified by the Trust Action plan

2003
1st October Route 81 was formed out of a partnership between local young people, the Garelochhead and Portincaple Community Trust and Garelochhead Church

14 young people become members

2004
Route 81 separates from the Trust and becomes an independent charity - The Route 81 Youth Project.     
 
Funding was obtained for 1.0 FTE youth worker post, job shared by 1 specialist Youth Worker and a colleague whose role was Administrative
Michelle MacDonald and Pamela Torrens

The project is run from a store cupboard in Garelochhead Parish Church

2005
25 Year lease on Our Lady Star of the Sea RC Church negotiated, just before signing The Outdoor centre is closed down. The new owners, Dunbrittan Housing Association agree to sell to R81 if we can raise the funds.

Feasibility study funded by Dunbrittan £10k, European development fund £10k, Rural Development Fund £3k

2006
Route 81 becomes a Company Limited by Guarantee 4th 1st 2006

 Application to the Big Lottery Fund for £750k put in.

Funding was secured from:
the BIG Lottery,
Scottish Rural Development Programme,
Climate Challenge Fund,
CARES,
the Scottish Power Green Energy Trust and the
Scottish Government

November
Pamela Torrens leaves and is replaced by Val Flannigan.

Staff funded by Church of Scotland Parish Development Fund, Tudor Trust,Scottish Churches Community Trust

2008
membership raises to 50+
Project run by a management committee of 10 youth members and 6 adults

2009
April 6th
Route 81 purchase of  the Centre completed.

Rachel Sinclair joins the team on a Student Placement
A further 30 hour Youth Project Worker was appointed to work with the growing membership of young people -  Marlon Adriaggo

January  Kirkwoods begin work

Midgefest held

Centre 81 opens it's doors to the public
